About CU RoboBoat
Where students and faculty members are collaborating to envision and test new ideas and concepts to further their knowledge about autonomous and robotic technologies. We want students to be able to get a hands-on experience on how to build a fully autonomous vehicle and get competition experience at the annual RoboNation’s RoboBoat competition in Daytona Beach Florida.
The Starting Point
CU RoboBoat was started by CU PHD student Dave Pasley in December of 2018. Dave Pasley used to be a former RoboBoat competitor and now works on autonomous systems for the U.S Navy. He has been serving as a member of RoboNation’s technical staff since 2016 and is the advisor for the club. When the club initially launched, the club started off with 5 students with multiple disciplinary backgrounds and no prior knowledge in automation and robotic technologies. During the course of the 7 months, the team was able to build a fully autonomous boat that competed in the annual 2019 RoboBoat Competition.
When & Where do CU RoboBoat meet?
As of September 2019 meeting will be on Tuesday at 5:30 to 6:30 in ECAE 1B26 in the basement level of the Engineering Center
CU RoboBoat is sponsored by Sparkfun Electronic, Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University, Center for Student Involvement (CSI), Engineering Excellence Fund (EEF), and more to come.
Be part of CU RoboBoat team!
Students are not required to be an engineering, computer science, major, or have any prior programming or engineering experience . The new members will be guided and advised by an experienced CU RoboBoat's member. Our experienced members will work one to one with the new members to make sure that they have a clear understanding of building a fully autonomous vehicle and important information about autonomy and robotic technologies. Also, the new members will have the opportunity to work on their leadership skills by working in one of our eight departments. If you are interested fill out this google forum and one of our members will contact you in the next 24 hours.
